Commonwealth Custom Coach Builders Ltd. was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

The company was founded on March 19, 1979 in Holbrook , New York . Other sources name Lake Grove , Lake Grene, and Lake Green , also in New York. In 1979 or 1980 the production of automobiles began. The brand name was Commonwealth . Production ended in 1982 or 1983. On December 29, 1982 the company was dissolved. A total of four vehicles were built.

The only model AR-1 was a sports car . It was similar to the Fiberfab Avenger from Fiberfab Inc. The coupé had a plastic body and offered space for two people. A V6 engine from Chevrolet powered vehicles. The five-speed gearbox came from ZF .
