Cricket Cyclecar Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

The Englishman Anthony New had already built a vehicle in London in August 1912 . In 1913 a company was founded in Detroit , Michigan , to produce the US version of the vehicle. The brand name was cricket . Donors were OC Hutchinson and Tracy Lyon. It is unclear whether Anthony New was involved. The first vehicle was on the road on November 15, 1913. Production ended at the end of 1914. Hutchinson and Lyon sold the company to motorcycle manufacturer Motor Products Company , which previously supplied the engines.

The only model was a cycle car . The V2 engine had 82.55 mm bore , 91.44 mm stroke , 979 cm³ displacement and developed 9 hp . It was mounted on the outside of the vehicle. The chassis had a wheelbase of 213 cm . The curb weight was given as 231 kg. The open body offered space for two people. The original price was 325 US dollars . By comparison, the Ford Model T cost $ 500 as a two-seater runabout .
