Cleveland Electric Vehicle Company , previously Cuyahoga Motor Car Company , was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

The Cuyahoga Motor Car Company was based in Cleveland , Ohio . JL Smith and MO Smith ran the company. They announced the production of electric cars in October 1908 . At first only a prototype was created . In May 1909, the name was changed to Cleveland Electric Vehicle Company . Now taxis were planned. At the end of 1909 the production of passenger cars began . The brand name was Cleveland , possibly with the addition of Electric . Raymond B. Doty was the designer. Vehicle production ended in 1910. Batteries were made until 1911.

Electric cars were on offer. Their electric motors developed 3.5 hp . They had six forward gears. The chassis had a wheelbase of 254 cm , Runabout , Victoria and Coupé are recorded , but no taxis.
