The Schacht Motor Car Company was an American automobile manufacturer, the 1904-1913 in Cincinnati (Ohio) produced cars with the name Schacht . The company was founded in the 19th century as a shaft manufacturing company for the manufacture of small carts . In 1904 Gustav A. Schacht decided to manufacture automobiles in addition to wagons.

description

The first car was a high-wheeled buggy with a two-cylinder engine in the rear that could accommodate two people. In the following year, a four-cylinder model with 30 bhp (22 kW) was added, the output of which rose to 40 bhp (29 kW) in the following year. From 1907, however, Schacht limited himself to the high-wheeler , inexpensive, high-wheeled vehicles that made the company known and successful. In 1909 it was renamed Schacht Motor Car Company . In 1911 the wheels became smaller again and there were four-cylinder engines again. The inexpensive two-cylinder model was discontinued in 1912, but as early as 1913 Schacht had to recognize that his large passenger cars were no longer competitive.

He drew the conclusions from this and stopped building cars. He renamed the company that he ran with his brother William to Schacht Motor Truck Company in June 1913 and manufactured trucks until the late 1930s.
