Mohler & Degress was an American manufacturer of automobiles and engines .

Company history

Alexander Mohler and WA Degress had manufactured a car in Mexico as early as 1896 and Mohler another in Astoria , New York, in 1901 . They founded the company in 1902 on the Rockaway Peninsula in Queens , New York City . In 1902 the production of automobiles and engines began. The brand name was Mohler & Degress . ´Charles D. Shain from New York City sold the vehicles. Vehicle production ended in 1903. In 1904 the production of vehicle parts and accessories was added. At the end of 1905 they sold the company to FA Seitz.

There was no connection to the Rockaway Automobile Company , which operated in Rockaway , New Jersey from 1903 to 1904 and also offered vehicles as Rockaway .

In 1902 there were five models to choose from. Style A had a single cylinder engine with 5 hp . The chassis had a wheelbase of 168 cm . The setup was a runabout . The style B had an 8 HP engine and 183 cm wheelbase. The Style B-1 was identical to the Victoria except for the body . The Style C had a two-cylinder engine with 16 hp. The wheelbase was also 183 cm. This model was also a runabout. The Style C-1 differed only in the body as a detachable tonneau .

In 1903, the range was limited to two models, for which little data is available. The one-cylinder obviously had a single -cylinder engine and the two-cylinder a two -cylinder engine. The former was a two-seat runabout and the latter was a four-seat runabout.
