Holland Automobile Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

The company was founded in 1902 in Jersey City , New Jersey . Boisselot Automobile and Special Gasoline Motor Company is considered the predecessor company. In the same year the production of automobiles and kit cars began . The brand name was Holland . Production ended in 1903.

One product line was steam cars . They were offered as complete vehicles.

More important was the business with kits . Customers were able to manufacture their vehicles themselves using the parts they bought. The offered petrol engines developed between 1.25 and 12 hp . Another source mentions engines with 6 or 12 hp. They were either air-cooled or water-cooled . The engine power was transmitted to the rear axle via a chain. Twelve different chassis were available. The type of body was left to the buyer. An illustration shows an open runabout with two seats.
