Holmes was an American manufacturer of vehicles .

Company history

Frank C. Holmes ran a bicycle repair shop in Binghamton , New York , between 1897 and 1899 . In 1900 he founded a new company with EF Gilmore in the same town. They made and repaired bicycles . A couple of automobiles were also made . The brand name was Holmes .

The partners separated at the end of 1900. The company was dissolved.

In 1901 Holmes worked in the supplier industry together with CS Millard. In 1902 he tried a fresh start in Virginia City , Nevada , again as a supplier.

There were no affiliations with the other US manufacturers of Holmes automobiles: Danville Foundry and Machine Company , Holmes Motor Vehicle Company, and Holmes Automobile Company .
