Dawson Manufacturing Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles and also the first in its branch in the US state of Virginia .
Company history
George Dawson was from Cincinnati . He founded the company in Basic City , Virginia in 1899 and built its first vehicle. He advertised it in an automobile magazine and received a few inquiries, but no firm orders. He then sold the first vehicle to Luther Gaw and John Clark. The brand name was Dawson . Work began on a second vehicle, but it was no longer completed. In 1901 the company was dissolved when Dawson drove back to Cincinnati.
There was no association with JH Dawson Machinery Company , which later used the same brand name.

The only model was called Auto-Mobile . It was a steam car . The steam engine had two cylinders . It drove the rear axle via a chain. Was steered with a steering lever. The open runabout offered space for three people. The maximum speed was given as 40 km / h on good roads.
