Hagmann & Hammerly was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

Messrs Hagmann and Hammerly presented from 1896 to 1898 bikes of the brand Volcano ago. Between 1900 and 1901 they sold vehicles for the St. Louis Motor Car Company under the name Hagmann & Hammerly Motorcar Company . They also sold Locomobile vehicles .

In addition, they manufactured motor vehicles from 1902 in Chicago , Illinois . The brand name was Hagmann & Hammerly . In 1904 the company moved within Chicago. Vehicle production ended in 1905.

An advertisement from the Hagmann & Hammerly Motorcar Company for vehicles of the Cartercar Company has survived from 1907 . Then the track of the company is lost.

Steam cars were built from 1902 . In October 1902, LW Sheppard won a one- mile steam car race with one of the vehicles , defeating two locomobiles.

In 1905 a vehicle with a gasoline engine appeared . It had a water-cooled two - cylinder engine with an output of 20 hp . It drove the rear axle via a planetary gear and a chain. The chassis had a 224 cm wheelbase . The body was an open tonneau with side access. A steering wheel was used to steer , which was not the case with all vehicles at the time.
