WL Elliott Motor Carriage Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .
Company history
William L. Elliott ran the company in Oakland , California . He manufactured automobiles between 1897 and 1899. The brand name was Elliott . In March 1900 he offered another engine. Then the track of the company is lost.
Elliott stated in an interview in 1907 that three vehicles were made.

The vehicles had gasoline engines and were among the first of their kind to be manufactured on the west coast of the United States .
The first vehicle from 1897 had a single-cylinder engine with 2 hp , which Elliott made himself based on drawings in a French magazine. The engine power was transmitted via belts to a countershaft and from there to the rear axle. The open body weighed around 272 kg and offered space for two people. Hamilton reached the top of Mount Hamilton in a test drive . The brakes failed on the descent.
In April 1899 two more vehicles were built. One of them was intended for personal use. The other sold for over $ 1200 .
It was also announced that additional vehicles would be made to order for $ 800.
