FW Ofeldt & Sons was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

The company was based in Brooklyn , New York, United States . Nyack claims another source . It dealt with steam engines . In 1899, Ernest F. Ofeldt manufactured the first vehicle, which was followed by a second. Two more vehicles were built between 1901 and 1902 at a plant in Newark , New Jersey . The brand name was Ofeldt .

Until 1905, parts for steam cars from other manufacturers were made. An advertisement has been handed down. After 1909, the company loses its track.

Steam cars were on offer . In the first car, a carriage was motorized. For this purpose, two steam engines were connected at an angle of 90 degrees. This made this engine one of the first V-shaped steam engines . The range was 32 kilometers on a charge of water and fuel. The vehicle wasn't pretty. Instead, it was about making it work.

The second vehicle was bodied as a Surrey .

The last two vehicles were a passenger car and a commercial vehicle .
