Towanda Motor Vehicle Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

Charles Lindstrom ran the Niagara Motor Vehicle Company in Buffalo in 1902 . When he saw the bankruptcy of this company, he founded the new company in Towanda , Pennsylvania that same year . George W. Kipp became president and Edward Winckes became superintendent. Lindstrom's position has not been recorded. In July 1902 the production of automobiles began. The brand name was Towanda , possibly with the addition of Electric . 20 people were employed. They produced seven vehicles by November 1902.

In 1903 the factory stood empty.

In 1904 the same cars were offered as before, but without an engine. In the same year the company was dissolved.

Only electric cars were on offer . The electric motor was made in-house. Chassis and bodywork may have come from suppliers such as Brecht Automobile Company and HF Borbein & Company . It turned out that the electric cars weren't suitable for the mountainous Pennsylvania landscape.

An illustration from 1904 shows a runabout .
