Houghton Automobile Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

The company was founded in 1900 in West Newton , Massachusetts . George S. Houghton was President, HR Houghton Treasurer, and William C. Houghton the Designer. They started with the production of automobiles. The brand name was Houghton . Production ended in 1901. In total, only a few vehicles were sold.

Only steam cars were on offer . They had a two- cylinder steam engine like so many of their competitors.

With Stanhope and Surrey , there were two different structures to choose from. Prices for the Stanhope start at $ 750 or between $ 800 and $ 850. The Surrey cost around $ 850 or $ 1,100, depending on the source.
