United States Mobile & Power Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

William E. Taft of Boston made a steam car in 1901 . He then founded the company in Worcester , Massachusetts . He started with the production of automobiles. The brand name was Taft . In September 1901, The Automobile Magazine reported on its vehicles. In October 1901 he drove through Massachusetts to sell shares. He then bought the Arriston Bicycle Company factory in Westborough . In January 1902 he moved production there. But already in February 1902 there were problems with mortgages. Taft moved back to Worcester. Everything was auctioned in May 1902. In total, only a few vehicles were built.
