Bowman Automobile Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

Sydney B. Bowman manufactured bicycles at his Sydney B. Bowman Cycle Company in New York City between 1899 and 1904 . In 1902 he also founded the Bowman Automobile Company in the same town as a car dealer. He imported vehicles from Établissements Clément-Bayard . In 1902 he marketed some vehicles as a Bowman . He also produced a racing car on behalf of a customer . Import ended in 1910.

There was no association with the Bowman engineering company and the Bowman Motor Car Company , which used the same brand name.

The racing car had an engine with 70 hp. NW Schlater designed it. The client was HR Morse.
