Dunbar & Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

The company was founded in 1900 in Chicago , Illinois . Mainly it manufactured machines for making popcorn and processing peanuts . 1904 was the entry into the automotive world as a repair shop. Several automobiles were made in the same year. The brand name was Dunbar . In the 1920s and 1930s, superstructures for commercial vehicles were manufactured, which then served as sales cars.

After 1950 the track of the company is lost.

The early machines could be pulled by humans or horses. This also applies to a vehicle from 1912 that was auctioned in 2014.

A well-preserved car of 1930 is based on a chassis of Chevrolet .
