HA Spiller had already gained experience in automotive engineering at Pringst-Spiller Power & Auto Company and Spiller Motor Carriage Company . In the summer of 1902 he founded the company in Amesbury , Massachusetts . In that year the production of automobiles began. The brand name was Boston & Amesbury . In November 1902, a vehicle was exhibited at the Mechanics Fair in Boston . 15 orders were placed during the exhibition and a vehicle was immediately sold to a disabled person . The plans for 1903 were 200 vehicles. Production ended in 1903. A source suspects underfunding as the reason for the downfall.
