Heymann Motor Vehicle and Manufacturing Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

The company was founded in Melrose , Massachusetts in the summer of 1898 . RM Fogg was President and CH Pratt Treasurer. The electrical engineers Edward and FW Heymann were also involved. They started with the production of automobiles. The brand name was Heymann . By the end of the year, 50 vehicles are said to have been in production. After 1900 things got quiet. Another vehicle was announced in 1904 and presented for the last time in 1907 at the Boston Automobile Show . Then the company was dissolved.

A small vehicle was offered from 1898. It had a water-cooled three - cylinder four-stroke engine that developed 6  hp . The chassis had a wheelbase of 142 cm . Construction was a stanhope with two seats. The vehicle had wooden rims and solid rubber tires . Was steered with a steering lever. This model was available until 1903.

1904 was followed by a vehicle with a five-cylinder - rotary engine . It made 40 hp. The wheelbase was 259 cm. The vehicle was bodied as a touring car. The original price was 4,000 US dollars . Maybe only one or two prototypes were made .
