St. Louis Gasoline Motor Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles and engines . There is also the name St. Louis Gasolene Motor Company .

Company history

Louis Langan had visited Europe in 1897 and found out about automobile construction there. From the summer of 1898, he initially manufactured at least two passenger cars in St. Louis , Missouri . The brand name was initially Langan and in 1899 St. Louis . He only founded the company in November 1898. OL Anderson, LH Daman and JD Fishback were also involved. The focus was on engines and vehicle parts. An order for 100 engines, power transmissions and chassis resulted in further investments. When the order failed, it meant the end for the company. In total, only a few vehicles were built. In 1900 the company was dissolved.

Langan vehicles

Langan used purchased single-cylinder engines with 1.75 hp . The first vehicle was a small runabout with two seats. The curb weight was specified with about 177 kg and the top speed with 29 km / h.

The next vehicle weighed about 259 kg.

A motor tricycle was at least planned.
