Federal Motor Vehicle Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

The company was based in Brooklyn , New York, United States . Charles L. King was the chief engineer. He began producing automobiles in 1901. The brand name was Federal . Production ended in 1902.

There was no association with the Rockford Automobile & Engine Company , which later used the same brand name.

Steam cars were on offer . The steam engine had two cylinders and developed 10 hp . It was installed together with the steam boiler in the rear of the vehicle and drove the rear axle via a chain. The body was made of metal . The open runabout offered space for two people. The original price was 750 US dollars .
