The Holsman Automobile Company was an American automobile manufacturer based in Chicago, Illinois from 1902 to 1910 . It was founded by Henry K. Holsman and manufactured high-wheeled cars.

history

Initially only two-cylinder engines were installed, from 1909 there were also four-cylinder engines. The rear wheels were driven by hemp ropes. Since they proved to be very unreliable - especially in damp weather - they were soon replaced by chains. The vehicles were only delivered with iron-studded wheels, even at a time when competitors had long since switched to rubber-tyred wheels.

The models sold quite well until 1906; the company was able to increase its output sixfold compared to 1905 - so customers later wanted more modern cars, but Holsman did not want to deliver. In 1910 the company went bankrupt.
