Quick Manufacturing Company

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Quick Manufacturing Company was a short-lived American automobile manufacturer.

description

The company was founded in the 1890s to manufacture various products developed by HM Quick . These included the "Quick" bike, a gasoline engine and patented steering. Partners in founding the company were EM Rodrock and RE Horton .

The company moved to its first office at 96 Broadway in Paterson, New Jersey . It appears that the engine of the "Quick" automobile was not from HM Quick but from an FA Phelps, Jr. had been developed. This was a small two-cylinder engine of around 4 hp, which was based on the well-known design of De Dion-Bouton .

In early 1900 the company moved to 52 Washington Street in Paterson. By May 1900, the company was already occupying 3, 5, and 7 Street in Newark, New Jersey . In the autumn of 1900, the completely indebted company went bankrupt and was taken over in October by business people around Philo E. Remington (1869–1937). In the aftermath of this sale, there was a fraud process with an unknown outcome.

The production facilities were dismantled and brought to Ilion, New York . The Quick was slightly redesigned and offered as the Remington with a new four cylinder engine that had an unusual starter that worked on acetylene or hydrogen .

Orders received for the Quick were carried out by the Remington Automobile & Motor Company .
