Jarvis Engine Machine Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

The company was based in Lansing , Michigan . It made accessories for automobiles. In 1902 six passenger cars were also built according to customer orders. The brand name was Jarvis . Plans for regular automobile production were no longer implemented.

After 1902 the track of the company is lost.

There was the Jarvis Engineering Works in Lansing . This company was founded as Lansing Iron Works in 1872 , later renamed Lansing Iron & Engine Works , Jarvis, Barnes & Company , Jarvis Engine & Machine Works in 1893 and Jarvis Engineering Works in 1922. It was employed in the field of steam engines and from the 1920s in the field of steel. It is not known if they are the same company.

Products

One device was intended for steam cars . It sent an alarm when the water supply was too low.

The cars were open runabouts . One source says they were steam wagons.
