Neftel Automobile Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

Knight Neftel founded the company in Brooklyn , New York , in 1902 . In 1902 the production of automobiles began. The brand name was Neftel . At the end of 1903, production came to a standstill.

The first vehicle from 1902 was an electric car . It had an electric motor from Telecom with an output of 8.5 hp . In 1902 Neftel took part in a reliability trip from New York City to Buffalo .

In 1903 a further development led to hybrid electric vehicles . A two-cylinder engine with 10 hp was mounted in the front of the vehicle. He drove a dynamo, which ensured that the batteries for the electric motor were charged. The drive took place on the rear wheels. The structure was a touring car . The Vehicle Equipment Company helped build it. It was sold by the Ranier Company from New York City.

In The Sun newspaper of May 31, 1903, there was an advertisement for the Ranier Company , which was selling vehicles from the Vehicle Equipment Company, Berg Automobile Company, and Neftel at the same time .
