James A. Clark Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

James A. Clark was the head of the Herkimer , New York-based company . However, there are also references to Utica , also in New York. Automobile production began in the summer of 1903. The brand name was Herkimer . Production initially ended in 1904.

The further course of the company during the following years is unclear.

In 1910, Clark bought the Herkimer Manufacturing Company facility . He tried again to make vehicles. It stayed with prototypes .

The vehicles from 1903 to 1904 had a two-cylinder engine with 18 hp . The structure was a touring car .

The 1910 prototype had a four-cylinder engine .
