Lansden Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

John M. Lansden and William M. Little had founded the Birmingham Electric Manufacturing Company in Birmingham , Alabama as early as 1901 . They wanted to make electric cars and may not have made one, possibly two prototypes .

In 1904 they founded the new company in Newark , New Jersey . They mainly made commercial vehicles. In 1906 passenger cars were added. The brand name was Lansden . From 1908, the cars were only available to order. Car production ended in 1910. Lansden left the company in 1911. Trucks were still in use until 1928.

Car

All vehicles were electric cars. 1906 was a model of the Type 40-CC . The sedan had a 224 cm wheelbase . There was also the Type 56 Electrette . The chassis had a 229 cm wheelbase. The setup was a runabout .

There were four models between 1907 and 1908. Type 38 C was a touring car with a 231 cm wheelbase. Type 98 CC was a 274 cm sedan. In addition, the two previous year's models remained on offer.
