Salvador Motor Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

Salvador J. Richards founded the company in Boston , Massachusetts in 1914 . In the same year the production of automobiles began. The brand name was Salvador . In May 1914, he announced that three of his vehicles were already on the streets of Massachusetts and that a small series would follow from June. Production ended before the end of the year.

Salvador then founded the SJR Motor Company .

Only one model was on offer. One source calls it a small car , another as a cycle car . The vehicle had a water-cooled four-cylinder engine of farmers . A bore of 69.85 mm and a stroke of 101.6 mm resulted in a displacement of 1557 cm³ . The engine capacity limit for cycle cars of 1100 cm³ was thus clearly exceeded. The engine developed 12 hp . It drove the rear axle via a three-speed gearbox and a cardan shaft . The chassis had a wheelbase of 254 cm . The open structure as a roadster offered space for two people. The original price was 485 US dollars .
