Owen Thomas Motor Car Company , partly spelled Owen-Thomas Motor Car Company , was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

W. Owen Thomas founded the company in January 1907. He began developing a special automobile. In 1908, production began at a former Chicago and North Western Railroad facility in Janesville , Wisconsin . The brand name was Owen Thomas , partly written Owen-Thomas . The highlight was the presentation at the Chicago Automobile Show in February 1909. Production ended in 1910. A total of three vehicles were built.

Other American manufacturers of passenger cars that included the Owen name in the brand name were Owen Motor Carriage Company , Owen Motor Car Company, and Owen Magnetic Motor Car Corporation .

The vehicles had a self-developed six-cylinder engine with air cooling . 114.3 mm bore and 101.6 mm stroke resulted in 6255 cm³ displacement . It made 49 hp or 60 hp , depending on the source . The chassis had a wheelbase of 345 cm . One source names touring cars with seven seats. One drawing shows a roadster with four seats.
