JV Lindsley Auto Chassis Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

J. Victor Lindsley was from Dowagiac , Michigan . In 1908 he developed a highwheeler in Chicago , founded JV Lindsley & Company and failed before the market launch.

Back in Dowagiac, he founded the JV Lindsley Auto Chassis Company . With financial help from his father, he took over the Dowagiac Automobile Company from Frank Lake and Doras Neff. Now the series production of automobiles began. The brand name was Lindsley . According to the manufacturer, two employees needed two weeks per vehicle. Production ended in 1908. In total, only a few vehicles were built.

The Dowagiac Motor Car Company continued production on its own account.

Highwheelers were on offer. An air-cooled two-cylinder engine with 10 HP powered the rear axle via a planetary gear and two chains. The tires were solid rubber tires . The chassis had a wheelbase of 198 cm . Steering wheel and steering lever were available.

Initially, only the chassis was offered for $ 250 . The buyer could assemble his own body. Complete vehicles were later available. They had a two-seat runabout setup and cost $ 475.
