Gaylord Motor Car Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

The company was founded in Gaylord , Michigan in the spring of 1910 . Guy Hamilton was instrumental. Automobile production began at the end of 1910. The brand name was Gaylord . Production ended in 1913.

Hamilton then moved to the Alter Motor Car Company .

vehicles

The first model appeared in model year 1911 and remained in the range until the end. It was called a utility . The four-cylinder engine developed 35 hp . Thermosiphon cooling was typical of the time . The chassis had a wheelbase of 284 cm . The usual structure was a four-seater touring car . It could easily be converted into a six- or eight-seater or for transporting goods. More than 350 vehicles were created from this model.

From 1912 there was also a second model series. The vehicles had identical chassis with a 269 cm wheelbase. The four-cylinder engines with OHV valve control differed in performance. The Model D had an engine with 28/30 hp and was bodied as a Demi Tonneau with four seats. For the Model R 20/25 PS were given and for the Model S 30 hp. Both were two-seat roadsters .
