Chicago Automobile Manufacturing Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

The Chicago , Illinois-based company manufactured automobiles from 1905 to 1907. The brand name was Chicago , possibly with the addition of Steam Car .

There were no affiliations with any of the other Chicago-branded automobile manufacturers: Chicago Motor Vehicle Company , Chicago Motocycle Company, and Chicago Electric Motor Car Company .

Steam cars were on offer . The four cylinders of the steam engine were arranged in a V-shape . The engine output was given as 25/30 hp . It was transmitted to the rear axle via a two-speed gearbox and a cardan shaft .

Further data are known for the Model C. The chassis had a wheelbase of 290 cm . The open body offered space for five people. The original price was 2500 US dollars . It is unclear whether there were other models.

The company advertised that the vehicles would be ready to go within two minutes. The sources doubt this.
