Rotary Motor Vehicle Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

ER Porter, NSH Sanders and WR Whiting founded the company in December 1899. It was part of the engine manufacturer American Rotary Engine Company . The seat was in Boston , Massachusetts . Automobile production did not begin until 1903. The brand name was Rotary . Production ended in 1905.

There was no association with the Bournonville Motors Company , which used the same brand name a few years later.

In contrast to the company name and brand name, the vehicles did not have a real rotary engine . It was a single cylinder engine with two connecting rods and two crankshafts rotating in opposite directions. It made 8 hp . The engine power was transmitted to the rear axle via a cardan shaft . There was a choice of a two-seat runabout with wire - spoke wheels for $ 1,250 and a four-seat tonneau with wooden rims for $ 1,500.
