Golden State Automobile Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .
Company history
The company was founded in 1902. HM Barngrover was President, George H. Voss Secretary and HW Lupton Manager. The seat was in San José , California . They moved into the factory where Christman vehicles were previously manufactured. They started with the production of automobiles. The brand name was Golden State . Production ended in 1903. The company was still active as a car repair shop for some time.
There was no connection with the Golden State Motor Car Company , which used the same brand name a little later.

Only one model was on offer. The two-cylinder , 8- horsepower engine came from the Brennan Motor Manufacturing Company . The name Lupton is used for the friction gear . It is unclear whether this can be traced back to the manager or the supplier. Christman supplied the silencer . The open body offered space for two people. Was steered with a steering lever. The wheels were wire spoke wheels.
