Henry C. Hart Manufacturing Company was an American company.
Company history
The company was founded in Detroit , Michigan in November 1884 . The predecessors are the Clark Hardware Company and Henry C. Hart & Company . Henry C. Hart ran the company. It manufactured parts for railways , but also safes and toys .
On August 14, 1891, a fire destroyed the plant. At that time the company employed 350 people. On November 15, 1894, the railroad division was sold to the Dayton Manufacturing Company .
Hart experimented with gasoline engines as early as 1894 and received several patents . On July 15, 1897, he founded the Hart Motor Company to manufacture engines. In 1898 he manufactured several automobiles . The brand name was Hart .
In October 1898, the Ideal Manufacturing Company took over the company. It was dissolved in 1899.
