Washington Auto-Vehicle Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles . There is also the spelling Washington Auto Vehicle Company without a hyphen.

Company history

The company was founded in Washington, DC in 1901 . One source names T. Janney Brown, JB Chamberlain, and J. Sprigg Beale as important figures. A newspaper report of September 27, 1901, on the other hand, gives T. Janney Brown, OT Crosby, JB Chamberlain, Thos. C. Noyes, J. Sprigg Poole, Wm. H. Ronsaville, and James Virdin as Directors, and T. Janney Brown as Treasurer. In the same year the production of automobiles began. The brand name was Washington . Passenger cars and commercial vehicles were planned . Production ended in 1901.

There was no association with the Washington Motor Company , which used the same brand name a few years later.
