JH Dawson Machinery Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

The company was based in Chicago , Illinois . In 1904 it manufactured automobiles that were marketed as Dawson . A fire in the same year destroyed the plant. The company was then dissolved.

There was no association with the Dawson Manufacturing Company , which previously used the same brand name.

Only one model was on offer. It had a two-cylinder engine with 16 hp . It drove the rear axle via a two-speed gearbox and a chain. The chassis had a wheelbase of 183 cm . There was a choice of a two-seat runabout and a four-seat touring car .
