Mohawk Cycle & Automobile Company , previously Mohawk Cycle Company , was an American manufacturer of vehicles . Other sources give the company names Mohawk Auto & Cycle Co. and Mohawk Automobile & Cycle Co. on.

Company history

The Mohawk Cycle Company was based in Indianapolis , Indiana . She initially made bicycles that were marketed as Rumsey . The oldest known advertisement dates from 1897. In April 1903 the name was changed. HL Hewitt was running the company at the time. Now the production of automobiles also began . The brand name was Mohawk . Production ended in 1905. Then the company was dissolved. Older sources assumed a production task in 1904.

There was no connection with the Mohawk Motor Company from Boston , which also manufactured Mohawk automobiles between 1914 and 1915 .

There were three models on offer. The 7 HP had a single cylinder engine with 7 HP and a structure as a runabout .

The 18 HP was powered by a two-cylinder engine with 18 HP. It was bodied as a tonneau .

The 70 HP had a four-cylinder engine with 70 HP. He was a racing car . Two vehicles were created from this. The buyers were Carl Fisher and Earl Kiser.
