Reliable Dayton Motor Car Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .
Company history
William O. Dayton began producing automobiles in the spring of 1906. It wasn't until the end of the year that he founded the company in Chicago , Illinois . The brand name was Reliable Dayton .
Production ended in 1909. The Fal Automobile Company took over the plant.

Highwheelers were on offer . The engine was mounted under the seat and drove the rear axle. At first there was a water cooler above the front axle. Later there was a hood at the front that was similar to the hoods of Renault , but did not cover an engine, but gasoline and water tanks . All engines were two-cylinder and came from the Dayton & Mashey Automobile Works . Initially it was two-stroke and later four-stroke engines .
Only one source gives a small model for 1906. The bore and stroke were each 88.9 mm. Mathematically that was 1104 cm³ displacement . The engine developed 10 hp . The wheelbase was given as 152 cm.
From 1906 to 1907 there were two models in the range. Both had an engine with 15 hp. The Model C was a motorized buggy with a 213 cm wheelbase. The Model I , which was bodied as Surrey , had a wheelbase of 249 cm. 111.125 mm bore and 101.6 mm stroke resulted in 1971 cc displacement.
In 1908 the Model E had a wheelbase of 213 cm and was available as a runabout and coupé . When Surrey Model F had chassis 262 cm wheelbase.
The coupé was discontinued in 1909. 114.3 mm bore and also 114.3 stroke resulted in a displacement of 2346 cm³. The engine output was still given as 15 HP. Model B , also called Improved Dayton , was new . Its four-stroke engine had 120.65 mm bore, 101.66 mm stroke, 2323 cm³ displacement and was specified with 18/20 hp. Frame and body corresponded to the Model E .
