Shunk Plow Company was an American manufacturer of agricultural equipment and, briefly, automobiles .

Company history

Adam Shunk (1797-1892) founded the company in October 1854. It was based in Bucyrus , Ohio . He produced agricultural implements such as plows and wagons.

In 1908, the company made some automobiles that were marketed as Shunk .

The company was mentioned in 1917. Then the track is lost.

Motor vehicles

Highwheelers were on offer . With the big wheels they were well suited for the bad roads of the time. The vehicles had a two-stroke engine with 12 hp . It drove the rear axle via a two-speed planetary gear . One source cites the presence of a differential gear on the rear axle.

A second source confirms the brand name, the construction time, the type of vehicle highwheeler and the engine power. It is also stated that the body offered space for two people.
