Dart Manufacturing Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

The Anderson , Indiana company originally manufactured gasoline engines. Automobiles were also made in 1910. Other sources give the construction period as 1908 to 1909 or as 1909 to 1910. The brand name was Dart . According to two sources, six vehicles were built. One vehicle still exists. It is not known when the company was dissolved.

A connection to the commercial vehicle brand Dart , which initially also came from Anderson, is not known, according to a source, but is possible.

A chassis formed the basis . A self-made two-cylinder engine drove the rear axle via a planetary gear . It was air-cooled and developed 10 hp . The bodies were made by external body manufacturers.

The surviving vehicle sold for $ 14,300 on September 4, 2016 .
