HF Borbein & Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

The company was based in St. Louis , Missouri . Axles and wheels were produced from 1899. In 1900 Henry F. Borbein made a prototype . From 1901 to October 1903 Borbein was a manager at the Brecht Automobile Company . During this time he also received at least one patent . From 1904 he manufactured vehicles in his own company. The brand name was Borbein . In August 1907 a takeover threatened. He offered his vehicles until the end of 1909. He manufactured accessories until 1919 and then sold the company to his son Alfred Borbein.

The prototype was an electric car with a runabout body shape .

The vehicles from 1904 to 1909 were mainly kit cars . The model no. 26 had a chassis with a 330 cm wheelbase and was bodied as a touring car.
