Eichstaedt was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

Roman Eichstaedt came from Germany. After working in New Orleans , St. Louis and Chicago , he found work as a machinist for the Michigan Central Railway Company of Michigan City in Indiana in 1898 . A little later he went into business for himself. In 1898 he manufactured the first automobile. The brand name was Eichstaedt . This was followed mainly by bicycles , but also a few other cars for local customers. In 1902 Eichstaedt was active as a dealer for bicycles, automobiles, sewing machines , pistols and ammunition, as well as a repair shop. Then the track of the company is lost.

Motor vehicles

The first car had a single cylinder engine . The open body offered space for two people. The maximum speed was given as 32 km / h.
