Roger American Mechanical Carriage Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .
Company history
In Paris, Émile Roger produced Roger-Benz vehicles based on patents from Benz & Cie. here. In 1895 he traveled to the USA with three of his vehicles, which he sold to the Macy’s , Gimbels and Wanamaker’s department stores . Macy's used the vehicle in the Chicago Times-Herald Contest .
In the same year Roger founded the company in Manhattan , New York State . He recruited WP Williams, who was hired to improve the vehicles to make them more suitable for the American roads. The brand name was Roger-American , shortened to Roger from another source .
Roger's death in 1897 led to the company being wound up. In total, only a few vehicles were built.

The vehicles were technically based on the Benz patent motor car Victoria . The plan was for one- and two-seater cars, Surrey , Wagonette , Coupé and delivery van .
One vehicle was used in the Cosmopolitan Road Race in 1896 .
