Rogers & Hanford Company was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

Frank Rogers and George Hanford lived in Cleveland , Ohio . There they manufactured their first vehicle in 1899. Then they founded the company. The market launch of their vehicles was not until 1901, however. The brand name was Rogers & Hanford . Production ended in 1902. In total, only a few vehicles were built.

The cars had a rotary engine with four cylinders . According to one source, they were the very first vehicles with a four-cylinder rotary engine . The engine power was transmitted to the rear axle via a chain. There was a choice of a small runabout with a curb weight of around 318 kg and a four-seater Surrey with a curb weight of around 635 kg.
