Palmer Bros. Engines Inc. was an American manufacturer of engines and automobiles . Other company names are called Palmer Brothers and Palmer Bros .

Company history

The brothers Frank and Ray Palmer had 1894 in Mianus in Connecticut a two-stroke - gasoline engines for boats produced. It is considered the first of its kind on the east coast of the United States . Series production began in 1895. A little later, three to four pieces a week were created.

In 1899 they made an automobile. But it was not marketed. Shortly after 1900 the company moved to nearby Cos Cob near Greenwich .

From 1914 onwards, automobiles were made again. This time they were marketed as Palmer . Vehicle production ended in 1915. At that time, the company offered 30 different marine engines with outputs between 2 HP and 75 HP.

Frank Palmer died in 1944 and his brother in 1953. The company existed under different management until the early 1970s.
