Chicago Motor Vehicle Company was an American manufacturer of motor vehicles .

Company history

The Chicago , Illinois company originally made carriages . The factory was in Harvey . In 1895 the production of automobiles began . The brand name was Chicago . In the same year a vehicle took part in the Chicago Times-Herald Contest . In 1899, WR Donaldson was President. William O. Worth and Henry R. Kellogg were also involved. Donaldson decided instead of cars now Nutzfahrzeuge produce. Bankruptcy followed in 1904 . The Davenport Morning Star reported it on February 17, 1904.

In addition, 15 Worth cars were built between 1899 and 1901. Two of them have been preserved.

There were no affiliations with the other Chicago-branded automobile manufacturers : Chicago Motocycle Company , Chicago Automobile Manufacturing Company, and Chicago Electric Motor Car Company .

Chicago brand vehicles

The vehicles had two-cylinder engines . The superstructures were open. One illustration shows a four-seater with a convertible top.

Worth vehicles

The vehicles also had a two-cylinder engine. One of the surviving vehicles has a cardan drive . The Bonhams auction house auctioned the vehicle on August 14, 2009 for 41,718 euros . The car is exhibited in the Louwman Museum in The Hague .
