Steamobile Company of America was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

The company was founded in February 1901 as the successor company to the Keene Automobile Company . The seat was in Keene , New Hampshire . WS Rogers directed it. The production of automobiles continued. The brand name was Steamobile . In September 1901 three vehicles were presented at an exhibition in Greenfield . As a result, 25 vehicles were sold. Commercial vehicles were added in early 1902 . In June 1902 it became known that many vehicles were still unsold. Production ended. The Standard Roller Bearing Company from Philadelphia took over the remainder of the company and 40 unsold vehicles.

Only steam cars were on offer . They had a steam engine that was specified with 7/8 hp . It drove the rear axle via a chain. At first there was only one runabout with two seats. The original price was 850 US dollars .

In October 1901, a Dos-à-Dos followed with four seats for $ 900.

In early 1902, the transit came for $ 1,000. In front of the driver's seat was a tonneau with two seats that could be replaced by a box body so that the vehicle became a delivery van .
