Hewitt-Lindstrom Motor Company was an American manufacturer of motor vehicles .

Company history

The company was founded in 1900 in Chicago , Illinois . John Hewitt was President and Treasurer. Charles A. Lindstrom, who came from Sweden, is known as the “mechanical genius of the company”. They started producing passenger cars , buses and commercial vehicles in July 1900 . The brand name was Hewitt-Lindstrom . The sale of licenses to other manufacturers was also planned . In December 1901, Lindstrom left the company to form the Niagara Motor Vehicle Company . In March 1902, vehicles were still being presented at the Chicago Automobile Show . Production ended a little later.

A two-seater Stanhope offered a top speed of 26 km / h and a range of 65 km . He weighed 726 kg.

A four-seater had a range of 40 miles and an empty weight of around 1134 kg.

There was also a light delivery van .

An omnibus had 20 seats. The vehicle was powered by two self-made electric motors with an output of 4.5 hp each . The range was specified with over 60 km.
