Stutz Manufacturing Company was an American manufacturer of engines and automobiles .

Company history

Harry C. Stutz manufactured two individual passenger cars in 1898 and 1900 . In 1899 he founded the company as a mechanical workshop. The seat was in Dayton , Ohio . Initially, he manufactured gasoline engines. In March 1902 the production of automobiles began. The brand name was Stutz . Sales were restricted to the local area. Production ended in the same year.

In 1902 Stutz sold everything to the TJ Lindsay Automobile Parts Company and switched to this company himself. He later founded the Stutz Motor Car Company of America .

The first prototype had a stationary engine as a drive. Like the second prototype, it had a steering lever for steering.

The series vehicles had a self-made single-cylinder engine . They were bodied as a runabout . It was now steered with a steering wheel .
