Stuyvesant Motor Car Company , previously Stiverson Motor Car Company , was an American manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

Frank E. Stiverson founded the Stiverson Motor Car Company in Cleveland , Ohio in November 1909 . He developed a vehicle for a year. Then he changed the company name to Stuyvesant Motor Car Company . In November 1910 he bought the Gaeth Motor Car Company . In 1911 the production of automobiles began. The brand name was Stuyvesant . Plans totaled 300 vehicles for 1911. These sales figures were not achieved. In November 1911, the takeover by the Grant-Lees Machine Company , which was also involved in the Grant Motor Car Company . Production ended in 1912.

In 1913 everything was sold to the Benton Motor Car Company , which, however, could no longer produce it.

In 1911 there were two models to choose from. The Four was based on a model by Gaeth. The four-cylinder engine was specified with 40/45 hp . The chassis had a 305 cm wheelbase . The open touring car offered space for five people. There was also the Model 6-60 , an in-house development. The six-cylinder engine developed 60 hp. The wheelbase was 325 cm. The only structure was a touring car with seven seats.

In 1912 the range was limited to the Model 50 . The four-cylinder engine developed 50 hp. The wheelbase was 320 cm. There was a choice of a seven-seater touring car and a four-seater toy tonneau . The six-cylinder model was dropped because Grant did not want to compete with his own model.
